Life’s a beach at this lakeside lifestyle home for sale in Sunbury, complete with some out-of-the-box features.
A bathing box, almost exactly like those on Brighton’s iconic foreshore, and a four-person paddle boat by the property’s private lake and jetty is just the beginning at 4 Marshall Close.
There’s also an observatory with a motorised retractable roof and top-of-the-line telescope to dazzle those with an eye for astronomy.
The four-bedroom house is listed for private sale by vendors Jessica and Bart Simes with a $1.6-$1.75 million price guide.
Mr Simes said they added a number of unique inclusions to their home over the past 10 years, including a commercial-grade gym and fully-equipped workshop.
“We were living in Port Melbourne and living a lifestyle as a young couple without children and loving that scene,” Mr Simes said.
“But when it came time to think about a property with more space and freedom, we were disheartened and naively shocked about how much you had to pay in inner Melbourne suburbs. I didn’t want to live in a shoebox for $1.5 million.
“We broadened our search a little bit and discovered this unique place in the suburbs.”
Mr Simes said he slowly ticked off “personal ambitions” to make it their own home to share with daughters Sienna, 7, and Indiana, 3.
“I was always very keen on astronomy and now that we lived semirural, rather than lugging my telescope out of the house I thought ‘what the hell, I’ll build an observatory’,” he said.
“We improved on the gardens and the sitting area down by the lake with stonemasonry work.
“Fairly recently, I added in the boat shed and decided to paint it in Brighton beach box colours.”
Mr Simes said he also took advantage of the lake being half empty a few years ago and built a jetty.
The grand house is on a 6731sq m block and is one of only five properties to have Spavin Lake access.
It’s on the market through Ben and Mary Roberts of Blackbird & Wren Sunbury.
